Inverted o-ring friction mount
This variation of o-ring mount allows the build to be friction-fitted into the top case, while resting on posts in the bottom case. This intends to allow the o-ring to contact both the top case and bottom case together, with the goal of minimizing unwanted resonance.
An o-ring is wrapped around the soldered build, and placed onto the bottom case posts. The top case is then pressed down onto the build and screwed together.
PCB / plate gasket mount
This variation of the classic gasket strip mount uses Poron gasket strips above the plate and below the PCB, leaving open air between the plate and PCB. This results in a sound profile with a blend of PCB-mounted and classic gasket-mounted characteristics.
Adhesive gaskets are installed in the top case, while removable gaskets are placed in the bottom case for this mount.
Mechlovin' Zed65 Layout Compatibility
Soldered PCB, fixed WKL 7U bottom row. Options on full/split backspace and stepped/standard CapsLock.
Gradient uses a custom PCB, so the case is not guaranteed to be compatible with other PCBs. The plates available in this release do not support ISO layouts.
Line by line...
Gradient is an all-new original 65% keyboard; a clear departure from previous JJWKB keyboard releases. While our previous keyboard concepts emphasized the use of curves as defining features, Gradient instead creates a unique identity with bold spanning lines and negative space. Offers both a refined "inverted" o-ring mounting and PCB gasket mounting method.
Simplicity at its core
The foundation for Gradient's design is built upon its deeply-recessed steel weight, splitting the keyboard and base in two with a polished core. The negative space created by the overhang is then broken with a contrasting USB housing block, lending to a surprisingly simple yet unique aesthetic.
Back to square zero
Gradient was initially designed and prototyped in 2022, undergoing several iterations before becoming what it is today. This limited-release for Gradient will be visibly decorated with the unique "R0" badge, marking these initial units as the first to be publicly available. Further production rounds of Gradient will no longer be offered in the TAUPE anodization.
Shipping & Quality Expectations
Please see our order cancellation / refund policy in the FAQ for more details.
As this is a limited release, there are no units allocated for replacements. Please inspect your kits on delivery and reach out immediately if there are any concerns.
Quality Control: See the following section for QC grading. QC is subjective. Internal surfaces are not considered during quality control inspection. Due to the nature of mirror-polished stainless steel, polished parts will be inspected to the best of our ability. There may be minor, unavoidable hairline / micro scratches and markings on mirror-finished surfaces. Regardless, these markings will inevitably be picked up naturally with day-to-day use.
A stock: As visually and functionally perfect as reasonably possible. Any imperfections should not be visible externally. No dents, no scratches, no dings.
A- stock: Very good, but imperfect finish. There may be minor deviations or inconsistencies, but most should not be visible and imperceptible while in use. No dents, no dings. These flaws may be difficult to spot, or imperceptible at certain angles.
B stock: Keyboard will have visual flaws, or imperfections that may be visible while in use.
Anodization: Product renders attempt to reproduce accurate portrayals of the anodized colors, but may not be entirely reliable. The perceived tone, brightness, and saturation of anodized aluminum can vary significantly with different lighting and angles. As anodization is a manual process and results vary from part thickness / size, there may be minor differences between parts that are anodized to be the same color.
