Since 2020, I've pursued everything with an unspoken motive – my goal as JJW is not to solely “design keyboards”, but to reimagine our daily necessities at the intersection of intentionally unique form and function. To maximize the minimum, and create everyday objects that are tastefully excessive.

Here's to new forms.

  • FOR CARRYING A BALANCE

This project was born from a simple preference. The majority of available options were too far on either end of the aesthetic spectrum – either extruded plain rectangles, or overly tactical in their design. So I set out to create something that struck a balance: dimensional, understated, and refined.

  • SNAP-TO-PAY

One issue I had with the classic open-faced cardholder design was that only the front-most card was easily accessible. While this would be simple enough to fix with a cutout in the back, COORD features a sliding back plate that provides flashy access to the rear cards with a magnetic snap.

  • THE FINISHING TOUCH

I wasn't a fan of how ‘incomplete’ sticking cash under the strap made the cardholder look as a product. Each COORD includes a removable faceplate that neatly and securely tucks away up to 4 quartered bills for a more polished appearance, and doubles as a tension placeholder for those who carry fewer cards.

  • WEAR, TEAR, EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

As opposed to our custom keyboards, COORD is made to be carried – not coddled. Here, every sign of wear on the anodized finish gathers beautifully over time. Each angled corner, edge, and surface of COORD is an opportunity to reveal subtle, glistening fades that complement and enhance a modern form.

Deceptively, COORD may not be the most intuitive cardholder to pick up and use. There's a slight learning curve that develops into pleasant habit once muscle memory kicks in – and when it does, it becomes second nature, making this design even more satisfying to carry.

... Maybe not your quietest habit

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this damage my cards?

As with all cardholders that use sliding mechanisms, the friction of cards rubbing against each other will leave far greater signs of wear than your typical soft wallet. It's one of the natural drawbacks of aluminum wallets. If you're concerned about keeping your cards clean, I wouldn't recommend COORD.

Does this pass the “shake test”?

For context, the “shake test” is when you take a wallet, turn it upside down, and “shake” the wallet to try and get cards to fly out. In this case, the answer is: it depends how hard you shake! It's a simple elastic band, so I'm going to say no – it doesn't pass the shake test. Anecdotally, this has never been an issue in actual use.

Will this block RFID signals?

Naturally, aluminum blocks RFID very effectively. However, due to the semi-open face (without a faceplate), I won't make any guarantees on the efficacy of RFID protection in this design. For what it's worth, I can't use tap-to-pay through the wallet :-)

Does this work with tracker cards?
